Problem:
In November 2017, the China Communications Construction Company (CCCC) started work on the Nairobi –Naivasha SGR Phase 2A.
In January 2018, the firm started facing hurdles that included frequent strikes from the employees demanding better wages; frequent attacks from residents who felt that they should also be employed; and attacks from political leaders who were fighting for the rights of the residents.
All these led to negative reporting about the contractor and the project, which in turn caused reputation damage.
Engage BCW was tasked to help manage the key stakeholders including media, and political leaders, and advice on actions for internal Communication Strategic solution
Community engagements:
Finding out CSR activities that would benefit these communities. Stakeholder engagements i.e. internal staff, political opinion shapers, and media on solutions that would be impactful to these communities. Emphasized communication between the external relation officers and the community leaders
